I had the great joy of catching up with our dear friend and student Jasper recently as I was in his neck of the woods and so he suggested we lunch at this highly rated restaurant on the Thames waterfront. A very cute and unassuming place with barely ten tables to dine on, this little restaurant had just about the most interesting and all encompassing vegetarian menu I\’ve ever seen. I\’ve always been a fussy blighter with my food, driving my family mad when I was a nipper, so it\’s a rare day when I encounter a menu that inspires me to want to trough every item! And there were plenty to choose from, and that was even before looking at the almighty specials board with super deal of three courses for £16.50.
We started with some fairly safe choices of corn fritters with plum sauce and falafels with a wheat free pancake and then graduated to red lentil and avocado kidgari for Jasper and a parsnip and sweet potato hot pot for myself. It was very decent fodder indeed and the cosy atmosphere made for excellent conversation. Even though Jasper is an ardent carnivore, he was smiling like a Cheshire cat when he sampled the delicious fayre on offer and its safe to say that this place is a Veggie\’s dream. Oodles of variety and plenty to keep their carniverous friends and loved ones perfectly sated.
We both had the pleasure of sampling parking tickets for dessert (who would think parking restrictions would still apply on bank hols?!), but wish we could have stayed. I\’m sure the puds would have been equally as enticing.
