We will begin at the end, and that is with enlightenment and yet, that is also the beginning, because from the Beeja perspective, that is what we are driven to search for (often unwittingly) in our lives, hence our continual, and often dissatisfying pursuit of sustained happiness. We are constantly chasing rainbows when in actual fact the pot of gold already lies within. And thus it can be said to underscore our entire journey that we call life, even if completely unacknowledged.

Contrary to popular opinion, enlightenment isn\’t a state we suddenly find ourselves waking up to (unless you have a rare crisis triggered awakening like Eckhart Tolle), it is something we evolve into. And it isn\’t simply a binary state of being, where you either are or you aren\’t, it is far richer and more nuanced.
Enlightenment is simply an overarching term for all the more integrated \”higher\” states of consciousness that we humans are capable of, but rarely realise.
Consciousness itself is a continuum of infinite gradations, much like an ever expanding black hole. And whilst a person of high consciousness certainly can have a compelling gravitational field much as these fascinating cosmological phenomena do, rather than preventing light from escaping, he who is consciousness cannot help but let the light flow.
So as the \’event horizon\’ of our expanded awareness grows, so too does the experience of the experiencer. As we travel along this evolutionary continuum there are distinct phases that characterise the experience, three of which belonging to the \”high\” consciousness category.
So do we have to live like a monk, become a vegetarian, or close our eyes for large portions of the day to get there? Certainly not. All we need do is live a full and purposeful life, grounded in the nourishing and fertile plains of a twice daily dip of transcendence. If we can manage to do that, allowing our wisdom, health and perceptual capabilities and life enjoyment to grow, we are all set. We can forget making a goal of it. It will simply come. Indeed, if we strive too hard to attain it, we\’ll just get in our own way. Better to relax and enjoy the ride of ever greater inner wisdom and outward appreciation of all things life.
For all those who have lived it, there is a realisation that a human life is a rare and precious gift. It\’s like being in possession of a rare and beautiful diamond, albeit one that may not yet be fully polished. As a great sage once said, \”to have a human life and not find enlightenment is to sell a diamond for the price of spinach.\”
For anyone who has experienced these rarefied plains of existence, there can be nothing but total agreement. Why go through life merely surviving and having the occasional laugh when you can live a life of insight and bliss that makes you glad to be alive every single day of your life? Indeed, the more you grow, the more fascinating the great drama of life and human existence becomes. No more hiding away from the tough questions, no more wondering what its all about, no more chasing rainbows and finding the experience underwhelming. Instead, there is a sequential unfoldment of mind-expanding amazingness and one finds oneself as the protagonist in their very own epic tale of awakening.
The realisation that we already have our golden ticket and that we really are in possession of a diamond grows with every sunrise.
Rock on.
